History:
The Department of Pulmonology is the oldest functioning department of Fauji Foundation Hospital. In fact, the hospital itself was built on a hillock outside Rawalpindi as TB hospital six decades ago in 1964. The Hospital was meant for management of patients with tuberculosis of x-servicemen. Later on when pensioners were shifted to the Military Hospitals of the country, families of x-servicemen were registered here. For decades the female chest ward was comprised on 12 beds. When Department was shifted to its present position in Block D in 2010, ward was upgraded as 24 bedded female ward. Due to increase of a lot of referrals and high turnover of patients, now beds are increased to 36 female and 10 male beds.
