The Asia Pacific League of Associations for Rheumatology (APLAR) is a regional organization that promotes education, research, and collaboration in rheumatology across the Asia-Pacific. It plays a key role in improving the diagnosis and management of rheumatic diseases through scientific meetings and partnerships.

The APLAR Young Rheumatologists (AYR) is a platform under APLAR that supports early-career rheumatologists, bringing together participants from around 40 countries across Asia. It encourages academic growth, leadership development, and international networking through workshops and collaborative initiatives.

 

Prof Babur Salim from department of Rheumatology Fauji Foundation Hospital Rawalpindi, Pakistan is a distinguished rheumatologist from Pakistan and co-convenor of AYR, recognized for his contributions to clinical practice, education, and musculoskeletal ultrasound. He recently represented the region internationally by delivering a talk on difficult-to-treat rheumatoid arthritis in Kazakhstan, highlighting contemporary challenges and management strategies. From next year, he will serve as the convenor of AYR, further strengthening his role in mentoring young rheumatologists and advancing rheumatology standards across the region.
